Peace and Quiet
I wish for peace and quiet, for just a little while
On my face you would see contentment and a great big smile.
I just want a few moments of stillness ever so frozen in time
Just time enough to get my thoughts, ones that are mine.
The phone rings and there is a knock upon the door
Im glad the vacuum is dead and the rugs lay silently on the floor.
The washer has stopped for its rest for the day
The dryer is still running and well on its way.
The dusting needs to be done, but its the quietest job here
Unless something hits the floor and that's oh so near.
Sometimes it feels so good just to sit and think about the time of day
And decide when you want to get up and on your way.
Not someone to tell you or yell out your name
Sometimes Id like to make the rules and my way play the game.
The game of life I mean, make the decision as to where and when
Decide when to stop and then start back up again.
I cant lock the door, everyone has a key to let themselves in
So why have a lock, there's no way I can win.
Oh, maybe someday Ill wish for all the noise and wonder where it went
But until then "SILENCE" would be heaven sent.
