Babies

I love babies and the way from your heart they steal
They never act in any way, they are always real.
When they smile its because they are happy
And their reaction is never snappy.

They know when you love them and feel like you do
They’ll tug at your heart and steal it from you.
The biggest man is brought down to the floor
He’ll play hide and seek and stand behind the door.

They make you lose your composure and stiff neck
You look at their smile and say what the heck.
Lets go have fun and you get them by the hand
That boy comes out you’re no longer a man.

The woman in you turns into a child so small
They say I love you, you feel 10 foot tall.
What is it about the smile of a child
That makes you lose all sense of style.

You wear funny clothes and put on a silly hat
You paint your face with this and that.
It doesn’t matter how you look
They stare at you when you read from a story book.

You make funny faces and they giggle out loud
They make even the meanest people smile in a crowd.
There is a secret there and maybe someday we will see
Then we can bottle it and sell it and kids we’ll all be.
