Handwriting On The Wall

As I was doing some cleaning ,I stepped into the room
And as I did my heart was filled with gloom
There upon the wall were marks with red pencil made
The lines were formed just right, up and down they laid

I screamed for my granddaughter and stood in awe as she said
Now, Now, Mamaw, those tears you need not shed
I know it makes you happy because I love you so
I looked at her and said ,this I want to know

What ever made you to do such a thing
She said, I wanted you to know I love you, I wasn’t being mean
She looked up at me with those big eyes so brown and said
This is a valentine, that is why it is red.

Here is what it says and she read it from her little heart
“Mamaw, I-Love-you, of course it's still on the wall never to part
To this day I don’t know if the words were really true
But if they were written on your wall what would you do?
