Thank God For School

Roller skates and bouncing balls
Skinned up knees and downhill falls
Children's laughter early in the day
Makes you get up and on your way.

Birds singing and flies in your ear
Lets you know summer is here
No sleeping late with kids in school
Its now their turn to make all the rules.

They say, can I stay up all night
Then they are up as soon as it is light
Mommy I'll be still, 
you won't even know I am here
Oh yes its again that time of the year.

Oh, dear the slam of the door
I've heard it one hundred times before
Running through the house with cookies in hand
Spilled Kool-Aid and pockets full of sand.

Poor little worm
 Lightening bugs are doomed for sure
Summers here and winters the only cure
