Little Princess Falling Rocks

Here is a story I have heard since I was a little girl. My Mother told it to me and now I am going to tell it to you.  Have you noticed the signs along the Highway, the ones that say 'Watch For Falling Rocks'? Well I ask my Mother one day why they put those signs up and this is the story she told me.

Once upon a time a long time ago, there was this Indian Tribe, a big well known tribe.  In the Tribe there was an Indian Chief and he had a son.  The son was looking for a maiden to marry.  She had to be very special, beautiful with long black hair and the look of a princess.  The dance began and as the Chief's son looked around he saw a beautiful young maiden and fell in love with her. They did the ritual dance and then they got married. They had a beautiful daughter and she had long black hair and was strong and solid as a rock.  She loved to run and play and she loved rocks of all kinds.  Well the Mother and Father decided to name her Princess Falling Rocks.  One day they decided to go on a picnic in the forest and as they did, they spread out the blanket and set out the food.  They turned their back for just a moment and she was gone.  Princess Falling Rocks was gone into the forest.

The Mother and the Father called and called but never found her. The story goes the animals of the woods raised her and she still lives today. The Father and the Mother put out signs everywhere so people would watch for her.....all along the road where there are forest and trees you will find a sign...Watch For Falling Rocks.
