The Scary Sleep Over

Billy lived in a very small town. A place where you could put up tents in your yard or play in the neighbors yard, and climb trees and especially "build tree houses". Billy had a huge oak tree in his yard that reached from the tree house to his bed room window, it shaded his yard from the sun, he loved his big oak tree.  He had one of the biggest tree houses in town.

One night Billy  decided  to call  his best  friends Tommy and Christopher and ask them to spend the night. They were going to sleep in his tree house. Billy called and told Tommy to ask his Mom if he could stay and Tommy's Mom said yes and Christopher's Mom also said yes. Then the boys  came over and they got their sleeping bags and pillows and Billy's Mom made them some sandwiches. They took cookies and pop and then the important things like comic books and their swords to protect them from scary things.

Billy, Tommy and Christopher were all ready for a good time and Billy's Mom told them she would be in the kitchen if they needed her . Well it began to get dark out and of course Billy was kinda nervous because it looked like it might rain, but he wasn't going to let Tommy know. Christopher was the youngest and they had to be tough for him. They read their books and laughed and was telling scary stories to each other when all of a sudden a big streak of Lightening hit the sky and lit it up and then thunder..."BOOM".., but then it got quiet again. They got into their sleeping bags and lay real still.   Then Billy saw it, a huge shadow out side the window.

It had long arms and hands and it began to scratch on the window of the little tree house. Scratch, Scratch..it was trying to get in. Tommy said, Billy I see it too.  Christopher said are were scared?  Billy said, "no", we will be okay, we have our swords. Its  seemed like it was trying to get in. Well Billy didn't want to seem scared so he said . it's okay it won't hurt us maybe it will go away. Well all of a sudden "Boom" the thunder hit again and the lightening lit up the sky and there it was with huge arms outstretched and hands going every which way. Then Billy said as soon as it leaves again we will go get Mom she will know what to do.

Christopher said I need to go home, but Billy and Tommy said its okay we are big and we will take care of you.  Christopher covered up his head.  It got quiet and they looked out of the door to the tree house, nothing was in sight, all was quiet. They got their sleeping bags and sneaked down the steps and ran to the house.  Billy told his Mom, there was a monster trying to get in the tree house, but Mom just smiled and  told them to just stay in the bedroom tonight and stay up as long as they wanted.

Billy , Tommy and Christopher  took their swords and laid them on the bed next to them. Tommy said if it comes back we will take our swords and run it off. Billy agreed knowing all he was going to do was cover his head. Crash! About that time the lightening flashed and the winds blew, Scratch, Scratch, there it was, now trying to get in the bed room. Billy said we have to go get Mom, she will take care of it. They ran downstairs, Mom, Mom, Billy said, it's here, it's trying to get in the bedroom, its scratching on the window and banging on the side of the house.

Yes, Tommy said, I saw it too, when the lightening came, I saw its shadow, it's out there. Christopher said, I need to go home. It will be okay said Billy's Mom. I have a surprise for you.  So Billy's Mom got a flashlight and told the boys to get their swords and put on their raincoats and hat, she would show them the monster they were afraid of. Out they went to the back yard, Billy said here is where it is Mom, right here and it was hitting  my bedroom window. Little Christopher was holding on to Billy's Mom's hand so hard he almost caused her to fall, because he was wrapped around her leg, she just pulled him along.  Mom began to laugh so hard, Okay she said, stand right here and wait just a minute.

About that time the  lightening hit and the shadow of the big oak tree shown on the house and the tree house, its leaves moving every which way and the branches rubbing against the tree house and Billy's bedroom window. Billy and Tommy laughed. Hey, they said we have our very own monster don't we, we don't have anything to be afraid of.  Christopher said I knew it was just the tree, I knew it was. They all smiled at each other.

So Billy, Tommy and little Christopher climbed back in their tree house and just enjoyed their sleep over, not to be afraid any more. The storm stopped and the shadow of the  big Oak tree just waved with the wind and they all went to sleep.
