Amanda
Wants a Puppy
One day Amanda told her
Mommy, "I want a puppy. I will take care of it and be good to it and
I promise Mommy I will feed it so good. Well Mommy didn't seem to think she was
old enough so she told her maybe later on when she was older. Amanda ran to the
couch and climbed upon it and buried her head in the cushions "no, no, no
Mommy, I want one now" she cried, I promise. Poor Mom, she didn't know what
to do so she thought for awhile and said " I will think about it and we
will see So she told Amanda, " I have a deal for you, if you will pretend
Hobby is real and let me watch you take care of him for two weeks I will think
about it." "But Mommy Hobby's not real and how can I feed him
and take care of him and love him?" Mom sat down and told Amanda the story
of the little boy made of wood and how one day he became a real boy. Wow,
thought Amanda if I take good care of Hobby, maybe he will become real and I
will have a pony. Now, Now Amanda, I know what you are thinking and the answer
is No, Hobby will not become real and you can't have a pony.
Well the next day she
started to care for Hobby and she really enjoyed it. As soon as she woke up she
took Hobby out for a walk and then brought him back in and fed him. Mom was so
proud of her. Amanda said, Mommy, if I let Hobby sleep with me will I get
fleas in my bed? They both laughed and giggle at the thought.
Amanda got a leash and put it on hobby's neck, well just in case she got her
puppy she wanted to know how to do that. She hugged on him and petted him and
Mom was watching everything she did. The only thing wrong was Hobby heard what
they had said and he was sad because she was getting a real puppy and he was
afraid she wouldn't play with him anymore.
You see our toys are good
to us, they are always there for us to play with and Hobby had been with Amanda
since she was born. Anyway that's a whole new story. The big day came and
Amanda and her Mommy went to pick out a puppy. They went to the pet store, my
goodness Amanda had never seen so many puppies, and they all gathered in front
of the glass. "Pick me....Pick me" they all cried. There
were so many different kinds of puppies and dogs to choose from. Amanda
was really mixed up, but all of a sudden in a special little cage off in a
corner sat a sad little puppy. She went over to it and the puppy looked up at
her with big brown eyes. "Oh you poor little baby said Amanda, are
you lonely, do you need a home? The little puppy wagged its tail.
Well as you can guess
that's the one she picked and as you can see in her picture album she is the
happiest little girl around.
