RC The little Bear

Well its best to have good thoughts and happy thoughts and expect something good to happen.  This is what happen to Amanda on a very special day of her life.  Her and her Mommy were going down the road and they were very thirsty so they stopped at this little place that was giving out cold water and treats for the children. Now Amanda was kinda lonely because she couldn't bring any of her friends with her on the trip.

Her Mommy said, I will go in here and get you a nice cold glass of water and I will be right back.  As she sat there she saw people just running around so she locked her doors and just sat back to wait for Mommy.  All of a sudden someone knocked on her window and a very beautiful lady came to her and said, hello little girl would you like some bananas and apples? Your mommy is inside and she said its ok.  Well Amanda took them but she decided to wait for her mommy to tell her it was alright.  As Mommy came out the door she had something in her arms. It was a teddy bear, a very small one with long lanky legs and  a smile on his face and a vest on with little XOXOX's on it.

Amanda knew that meant kisses and hugs.  She smiled real big.  Mommy laid the little bear inside and told Amanda the Red Cross is inside and they are helping people and they said to give you this little bear because you looked sad.  Amanda said, I know you can't talk till I give you a name and make you mine, then will you talk to me?

The little bear just sat there with that little smile on his face. So she closed her eyes and thought with all her heart of a good name. "I KNOW" she said so loud she thought her mommy and the nice lady heard her. I will call you RC, yes that's it RC for Red Cross and that way I will never forget where I got you.  When she said this he began to smile and she knew he was her little bear. She held him close to her and he put his long arms around her neck and hugged her. He said I have been waiting on you Amanda to come get me and they both  laughed.

About that time RC laid loose on the car seat and Amanda looked and saw her mommy.  Who you talking to Dear? Just RC, she said and mommy smiled. Can I get in the back? asked Amanda.  Her Mommy said yes.  When she got in the back she asked RC where all he had been and he began to tell her the stories of how all his brothers and sisters were sent to help other children who were sad and needed a little bear. There was this one little girl who was swinging and fell and hurt her leg so bad she couldn't go outside so his sisters were sent to stay with her. Then there was this little boy Jerry that lost all his toys in a fire in his home and one of his little brothers went to live with him.  Amanda said are all of you Happy Bears RC?  RC said we sure try to be.

It seems like maybe RC has a built in happy face and the kisses and hugs that are on his little vest are what makes a little boy and girl happy.  You know maybe, just maybe they are magic X's and O's that have snuggle power. That night Amanda took RC to bed with her and decided to keep him with her. He snuggled up to her during the night and she laughed as he tickled her neck with his fur and then he sneezed and got her all wet, she laughed and said RC you are going to have to sleep in your own bed if you don't stop and they both laughed.  RC tried to snuggle up to Amanda but she kept tossing and turning and he kept getting further and further down beneath the covers.

As Amanda woke up the next morning she couldn't find RC.  She was afraid he was gone, she started crying and ran to get her mommy.  "Mommy, Mommy she cried I can't find RC. Mommy came into her room and started looking for RC. As she looked under the covers there he was all curled up where Amanda had pushed him with her feet.  Amanda thought after that she must be more careful. She took a little shoe box from her Mommy's closet and fixed RC a perfect bed to sleep in.  Amanda asked RC if he would ever leave her and go live with another little girl or boy that may need him more.  RC said No  he was hers to keep as long as she wanted him  but if she doesn't need him anymore, she must promise when she sees there is another little girl or boy that is sad and lonely she would give RC to them.  But you know I don't think Amanda will ever get tired of RC, do you?  I think we all need a little bear  to cuddle and make our sadness go away, because when we have a little bear with kisses and hugs we will always have a friend and never be lonely.
