The Painting

"Come on KC"! yelled her little brother Alex. Let’s look at our new house. Ok, I’m coming Alex. KC said "look at this old painting. It must be at least a billion years old. . KC’s mom, Joy, took Alex and KC to their new room. When she came to kiss her goodnight, she asked her mom what the old history was behind the house? And who lived in it? Joy said, years ago this house belonged to an old painter. It’s was in the 1800’s.rumor is he’s still here and it’s haunted by him but he’s not a mean person. AWWW! No its not haunted said KC because, KC don’t believe in spirits. As she was looking at the old picture it look liked the wall shook, it fell off, she saw the man's name and the date written on the back, William J. Oxford June 19,1901. she told her mom about it, she said there wasn’t any way the date could be right, Her Mom was already late for work so she rushed out the door and said we’ll talk later. KC went into the library and pulled a book out of the book case in her room, and the case opened like a door. She went in and looked around but it was empty.

Then, the next day, she asked her teacher about the house. she told her teacher the name and date she had found on the back of the painting. her teacher said, that’s impossible the man died June 06,1891. KC was really curious now and couldn’t wait to get home.

When she got home, she went back into the passage and saw an art easel with a painting on it, it wasn't there the day before when she went in. It had KC and a palomino horse on it. KC always loved horses but, she could never have one of her own. What she didn’t know was as a surprise on her birthday, her mother told her to go look at the big oak tree in the yard. There was a big beautiful palomino with a saddle and bridle laying beside her. the same one as in the painting.

She went back in the passage and saw a ghost painting a picture. she asked him if he was Mr. Oxford. He very quietly shook his head "yes", many years went by after that.

Years and years passed without her saying anything to anyone about the man living in the passageway, her mother passed away. Alex was 19 now, he was 6 when they moved in. KC was 26. Alex and William Oxford became good friends. She loved him like a mortal. Then when KC passed, Alex went into the army and was killed. Now Alex, KC, and William live on and on in the old house. all friends with the man they call William Oxford.

KC and her palomino "trigger" died at the same time and was buried with her. The people who live in the house now say they hear thunder hooves in the attic and people laughing, and gun shots. Alex was buried with his 22 riffle. And still practices his shots just in case something tries to harm the family in it now. And a last minute surprise...... the people who live in are me (Tory), Mamaw (Harriett)
