The Perfect Day

There was a girl named Cloey and she always dreamed of having a horse of her own. Her Mom would take her to ride in the summer at a riding school. Then one day as Cloey was riding she saw a horse out in the field, she loved it at first site.

"Oh Mommy, please ask the man if she is for sale". She was so pretty that Cloey decided if she could own her she would name her Pretty Thing. It was sure hard watching her Mother talk to the man, the man was shaking his head no, and Cloey knew she was going to cry. As her Mom came walking over to her, she said "well Honey, I have some good news and some bad news". Cloey just knew she was going to cry in front of all theses people. Her Mom told her she was for sale but first he had to wait till she had her foal. "How long will it be Mommy?"  Her Mom told her at least 2 months. Cloey said she would keep training to ride until then and that way she could keep an eye on the horse.

Well the day came and the man called, he told Cloey that she had her foal and in a couple of weeks she could come and get her.

Cloey wanted her because she was a jumping horse. Well Cloey went to saddle her up and the horse was a little fretful but Cloey just thought it was because of her new baby. Pretty Thing did real good and Cloey and her fell in love with each other, Pretty thing waited everyday for her to come and see her and ride. Cloey always brought her an apple to eat.

Then one day as Cloey and Pretty Thing were out in the open field riding, there was a rattlesnake curled up in the path and when it came up it scared Pretty Thing and she reared up and Cloey almost fell off but then she started running, Cloey started screaming and her Mom heard her.  Mom jumped on a horse called Rosebud and started after Cloey and Pretty thing. "Faster," she told her horse, "faster girl we have to catch Cloey.  But it was too late, about the time she got there...Pretty Thing stumbled in a hole and threw Cloey and she couldn’t get up. Cloey was okay but Pretty Thing had broken her leg. Cloey cried and cried but it was too late, she hugged on Pretty Thing and then she walked away and she knew she would never see her again.

Two months had passed and Cloey was feeling so bad, it was her birthday soon but she didn’t want to have a party because she still missed Pretty Thing. But her Mom told her it was best to go on with her life, that Pretty Thing would have wanted her to. The day came and Cloey was all dressed up and all her friends were there but Cloey was still heart sick, her Mom told her she had a special gift for her after everyone had gone home. So as Cloey sat in the living room her Mom called to her, she slowly got up and walked to the door, There it was!  The colt that Pretty Thing had, it looked just like her, all beautiful and except for the big red bow on her neck she could have been her Mommy, this had turned out to be the most perfect day for Cloey.  Cloey looked at her Mom and hugged her, I love you Mom, thank you so much.
